She is best known for her role as Aria Montgomery on the ABC Family series Pretty Little Liars. Hale recorded and released her debut studio album, Road Between in 2014.

Personal life

Hale is a native of Memphis, Teessee. She was named after one of her great-grandmothers. Her mother is a registered nurse. She has an older sister Maggie who is a teacher and a step-brother Wes. Hale was homeschooled. During her childhood, she took acting and singing lessons. In August 2012, Hale revealed she had suffered from an eating disorder. She started out as a singer, appearing in American Juniors (2003) in search for new band members, she sang1980's hit "Call Me" which won her the place. The band disbanded in 2005.



She first appeared on television in the reality show American Juniors in 2003. She was part of the vocal quintet formed with the top 5 finishers. American Juniors. Allmusic. She appeared in two episodes of the Disney Chael show Wizards of Waverly Place.

Hale appeared in NBC's short-lived re-imagining of the Bionic Woman as Becca Sommers, younger sister to title character Jaime Sommers (played by Michelle Ryan). Lucy Hale. NBC. In December 2009, Hale was cast as Aria Montgomery in the TV series Pretty Little Liars, based on the book series by Sara Shepard. Hale was cast as the lead for Once Upon a Song. Filming began in February 2011 Warner Premiere film 'Another Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song' auditions underway for ABC Family. January 19, 2009. On June 11, 2013, Hale aounced that she is the new Ambassador of the beauty brand Mark Girl. On July 29, 2013, it was aounced that Hale and Darren Criss would co-host the 2013 Teen Choice Awards on August 11, 2013.


Hale described music as her "first love". Her early musical influences were Shania Twain and Faith Hill, but what ignited her interest in pursuing music was Britney Spears' "...Baby One More Time". She also listened to Dixie Chicks. She recorded songs for A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song.

On June 12, 2012, it was aounced that she had signed a record deal with Hollywood Records. Recording was set to begin later in 2012 with a single and a country album due in 2013. Kristian Bush of country band Sugarland said: "She sounds like Carrie Underwood -- strong with a blues side and a pop side to it. And a lot like Faith Hill." Hale's debut single "You Sound Good to Me" was released on January 7, 2014, with her debut album to follow later in the year. The song's accompanying music video was directed by Philip Andelman. On February 18, 2014, it was aounced that the album would be called Road Between, and that it would be released on June 3, 2014.
